Global Diligence works with the United Nations, governments, international organisations, and civil society organisations to help set-up, manage, monitor or evaluate the courts and tribunals that prosecute domestic and international crimes. These include international tribunals, UN-assisted courts, as well as purely domestic courts.
Training and Mentoring Civil Society Investigators
Global Diligence creates training materials and conducts training and mentoring sessions for civil society organisations and first responders documenting international crimes and human rights abuses.
ICC Hague: Legal Aid Assessment
GD Partner, Richard Rogers, was engaged by the ICC Registrar to provide an Assessment Report on the ICC’s legal aid scheme for defence and victims. The legal aid assessment was the most subsantive since the ICC started operations and included extensive consultations with stakeholders. Rogers drafted new legal aid policies to be implemented.
Special Tribunal for Lebanon
GD Partner, Richard Rogers, acted as Consultant Advisor to Defence Office, which was set-up to prosecute those responsible for the murder of Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri.
Bangladesh: International Crimes Tribunal
GD Partner, Richard Rogers, trained judges and advised the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister and Bangladeshi Justice Minister on the set-up of the International Crimes Tribunal, which was mandated to prosecute mass crimes committed during the 1973 Bangladesh Liberation War.
Uganda: International Crimes Division of the Ugandan High Court:
GD Partner, Richard Rogers, as consultant for the International Center for Transitional Justice, evaluated the challenges faced by the court, which was set-up to prosecute the Lords Resistance Army, and designed follow-up programs.
Ukraine: Office of the Prosecutor General
GD Partner, Alexandre Prezanti, as an interim Chief of Party for the International Development Law Organisation, led a team of experts in an effort to reform the case management, corruption investigation and human resources of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine
Georgia: Criminal Justice Reform
GD Partner, Alexandre Prezanti, monitored high profile criminal trials in Georgia on behalf of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Prezanti was the co-author of the OSCE report proposing reforms to Georgia’s criminal justice system. More recently, Prezanti has been retained by the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association to conduct an assessment of Georgia’s pre-trial detention system.
