Global Diligence represents victims of mass human rights abuses and international crimes (war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity), whether committed during armed conflict or peacetime.
International Criminal Court: Georgia
GD Partner, Alexandre Prezanti, working with a coalition of local and international civil society, authored and filed representations to the Pre Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court on behalf of a group of Georgian and South Ossetian victims of international crimes in the situation in Georgia pursuant to Article 15(3) of the Rome Statute.
Alexandre, in partnership with the Russian Justice Initiative, has also assisted a group of victims to persuade the ICC to broaden its investigation in Georgia. He continues to advise civil society organisations representing victims of the Russo-Georgia war.
International Criminal Court: Ukraine
Working with Ukrainian, Russian and international civil society, GD Partner Alexandre Prezanti has documented evidence of international crimes by all parties to the conflict and authored several legal briefs filed to the International Criminal Court on behalf of victims in the Ukraine situation. His briefs relate to alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity of killings, enforced disappearances, torture, ill treatment of persons in custody, rape and other forms of sexual violence, direct and indiscriminate attacks on civilians and persecution
Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia
Former GD Partner, Marie Guiraud, was the lead international victims lawyer before the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), which was set up to prosecute the former leaders of the Khmer Rouge. From 2014 to 2019 Marie represented the interests of thousands of Cambodian victims as civil party lead co-lawyer.
Former GD Partner, Alex Bates, led the prosecution of DUCH, the first defendant to be tried at the ECCC.
International Criminal Court: Cambodia
GD Partner, Richard J Rogers, filed a Communication on behalf of victims to the Prosecutor of the ICC, alleging that widespread land grabbing and forced evictions by the Cambodian ruling elite amount to crimes against humanity.
European Court of Human Rights
GD advises and assists victims of human rights violations to bring cases before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, when national courts have failed to protect their rights.
