Legal Consultant, Stanisić Defence Team

In 2010, GD partner Richard J Rogers served as the senior legal officer in the Appeals Chamber at the ICTY, in the Hague. In that post, he managed the 20+ legal support staff assisting the international judges.

After leaving the UN, Richard was hired by the defence team for Jovica Stanisić (Wayne Jordash QC) to assist in drafting the final closing brief at the end of the lengthy trial.  Stanisić had been the former chief of intelligence under Serbian leader, Slobodan Milosevic, and was accused of orchestrating war crimes and crimes against humanity. The Trial Chamber acquitted Stanisić on all counts. (After the Prosecution appealed, the Appeals Chamber ordered a re-trial).
